Optimization methods for planning in electric power grids

A rise in the rate of population growth leads to higher demand rates for electric power consumption. Therefore, it is necessary that electrical energy generation, transmission and distribution system be planned an optimized way, order provide excellent service consumer reduce costs supply transmission. For this, location load balancing each substation extremely important systems. The problem can modeled as a combinatorial optimization problem. In this paper, we propose allocation model using p-median heuristic methods developed, solve problem, were based on algorithms from Teitz Bart (1968), find best substations, Gillett Jhonson (1976), which designates points connected substation. Finally, exact method branch-and-bound algorithm was used compare computational results. tests several scenarios applied networks metropolitan region. results promising terms quality well time. validated database planning sector.
